Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Lima & Jungle Briefing
  • Arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel in the Miraflores district
  • Evening jungle briefing and overview of the expedition
  • Dinner on your own; overnight in Lima
Day 2 – Flight to Tarapoto & Road to Yurimaguas
  • Morning flight from Lima to Tarapoto
  • Scenic drive through mountain jungle roads to the port town of Yurimaguas
  • Stop for jungle fruits and river views along the way
  • Dinner and overnight in Yurimaguas lodge
Day 3 – Boat Journey to Lagunas & Edge of the Reserve
  • Early morning boat ride along the Huallaga and Marañón Rivers to Lagunas, gateway to Pacaya-Samiria
  • Meet your indigenous guide team and stock up on supplies
  • Overnight in a simple guesthouse near the reserve
Day 4 – Canoe into the Jungle (Pacaya-Samiria Reserve)
  • Switch to smaller dugout canoes and begin paddling deep into the Amazon
  • Wildlife spotting begins: pink dolphins, macaws, howler monkeys, caimans, anacondas, and more
  • Camp in the jungle under mosquito nets or stay in basic ranger huts
  • Dinner by campfire; overnight in the reserve
Day 5 – Deeper into the Amazon: Exploration & Survival Skills
  • Jungle walks, fishing for piranhas, and learning traditional survival techniques from local guides
  • Visit a remote village inside the reserve (depending on water levels and weather)
  • Canoe back to camp at sunset, listening to the jungle come alive
  • Overnight in the reserve
Day 6 – Return Paddle & Back to Lagunas
  • Morning canoe out of the heart of the jungle
  • Return to Lagunas by afternoon
  • Dinner and overnight in Lagunas guesthouse
Day 7 – Return to Tarapoto & Flight to Lima
  • Early river boat back to Yurimaguas, then drive to Tarapoto
  • Afternoon flight to Lima
  • End of tour (or optional extensions in Cusco or the Andes)
