Naples… one of the most chaotically beautiful cities I’ve ever been to, where the streets are falling apart yet it undercovers even more beauty beneath them.

My trip started at the underwater park of Baja where the lost underwater city lays a few metres below the surface (well, at least starting at). Seeing so many mosaics underwater in such amazing condition really lets you appreciate the quality of material that was used in the past. Anyway, two days of snorkeling and lost of crazy underwater finds, not just mosaics but vases, steps, doorways.. the list goes on. This place is huge and weather you’re a diver or snorkeler then Baia Archaeological park is a top place to see. The word on the street is, the place sank due to its volcanic location. Does that go for the underwater cities in Greece and Turkey too, or are we happy to hear that the sea levels rose already to cover them?

From here, the archaeological park of Herculaneum. An amazing little find just on the outskirts of Naples. It’s a mini Pompei, without the crowds and with so much more detail in the frescoes. Honestly, the frescoes are what I came here for, and to see a few bodies ashed in the ground (I’ll work on my descriptive language from time to time). It’s a place you would find more and more details each time you visited.

Finally - the Basillica of Saint George. I came here for the painting, and I got the painting (too big for Ryanair hand luggage so it had to stay).

Hidden in the back of this church is a painting of Saint George slaying the dragon. The best think about the painting is that it’s hidden behind another painting, something straight out of a movie. Next time, come and see it for yourself ✈️😬🇮🇹
