Day 1 – Arrival in Baghdad & Welcome to Mesopotamia

Evening walk along the Tigris River, soaking in Baghdad’s old soul and modern buzz

Overnight in Baghdad hotel
Day 2 – Ancient Capitals: Samarra & Baghdad’s Golden Past

Morning drive to Samarra, once the Abbasid capital
-
Explore the famous Spiral Minaret (Malwiya) and the vast ruins of the Great Mosque
-
Return to Baghdad and visit the Al-Mustansiriya School, Mutanabbi Street, and Al-Shaheed Monument
-
Optional visit to the Iraqi Museum if time permits (subject to availability)

Dinner at a traditional restaurant in old Baghdad

Overnight in Baghdad
Day 3 – Babylon & Hillah: The Mythic Heart of Mesopotamia

Early departure south to Babylon, home of Nebuchadnezzar and the legendary Hanging Gardens
-
Walk through the Ishtar Gate reconstruction, royal palaces, and Lion of Babylon
-
Stop in Hillah for lunch and short visit of local bazaars
-
Continue to Nasiriyah, overnight stay en route to the deep south
-
Dinner and overnight in Nasiriyah hotel
Day 4 – Uruk, Ur & the Marshes: Cradle of Civilization

Drive to Uruk, the world’s first city and home of Gilgamesh
-
Explore remaining ziggurats and city walls (limited excavation, high historical significance)
-
Continue to Ur, birthplace of Abraham and home to one of the best-preserved ziggurats in Mesopotamia
-
Afternoon journey into the Mesopotamian Marshes by boat
-
Visit a local Marsh Arab village, learn about traditional reed architecture and marsh life
-
Enjoy tea with a local family in a mudhif (reed guesthouse)
-
Return to Nasiriyah for dinner and overnight
Day 5 – Return to Baghdad & Departure

Morning drive north back to Baghdad (approx. 4–5 hrs)

Optional stops along the way depending on flight time

Farewell lunch near Baghdad before airport drop-off
