Petroglyphs & Rock Art
Deep in the Sahara, on rock faces the desert has guarded for millennia, people painted rivers. They painted cattle, hippos, swimmers, green hills. A whole living world, in the middle of what is now the driest place on Earth.
This is not myth. It is eyewitness testimony, carved and painted over 10,000 years ago, when the Sahara still ran with lakes and rivers. In the galleries of Tassili n'Ajjer we stand before these images and ask what they really tell us. Who were these people? What did they witness? And what does a green Sahara turned to sand say about a climate we are so often told has never changed before?
Come and read the rock for yourself.
